Andre Rieu - a wonderful evening
The man seated next to me was nearly falling out of his chair - he was laughing so hard. :) Young The Giant also had 3 tenors when 1 would have done just fine. However, his guests are Top Quality opera singers with powerful voices. He did have some "funny" stuff which could've been left out (the Hunk and Gold's Gym). His backdrops were gorgeous -- a frozen canal in Holland for "The Skater's Waltz"; flowing water for "Die Donau" (Blue Danube), the interior of an Austrian palace for another number. He chooses them well. There was humour, though, and the orchestra members are also entertainers. I wish he'd played more European-style music -- more waltzes, polkas, classical numbers. Many couples got up to waltz (this on an ice rink floor!), balloons were flying up at the front, wine glasses were being passed amongst orchestra members - a feeling of fun and gaiety everyone loving it. His Encores turned into a party atmosphere and he would finish one number only to motion toward the audience as if asking "Do you want more? More?" Of course, we wanted more! His orchestra is Top Quality and the members are, as he said, full of enthusiasm and give it their all at each and every concert.
